If There are Such Things as Genies

If there are such things as genies – as we lean
toward thinking there must be –
surely their abiding meanings don’t reside
inside the bottles in which we presume they hide –

nor in their putatively abject willingness to give
whoever finds them a free ride –
but rather in what coincides in them between
the gliding miracle of Being and their grasp

of what to do with it. One must assume they do
as they see fit. The message
may be more than we construe. It may suggest
the impulse of Existence is to give to you.
