Exactitude and Entropy

Despite opposed proclivities
and impulses and ends,
Exactitude and Entropy
are fast becoming friends --

engendering the sort of love
that butter feels for blade --
with all the untoward difference
of blinding light and shade.

We’d like to like their paradigm --
but we don’t find it easy.
Dichotomy does not endear:
in fact, it makes us queasy.
