Before They’d Even Braved a Kiss

When we arrange our naked
limbs to face each other,
entertaining prospects
of an intimacy,
do you feel as strange as I do?

I’m sensing something very near
I do not understand at all.
I don’t think it’s fear.

If Eve and Adam had a fall,
it must, before they’d even
braved a kiss,
have been a sensory
descent like this.

So Here We Are

So here we are gadding about
Upanishadding doubt

not minding the bind
we find

we’re in
and not very much believing in sin.

On Their Own

Imagining that images have meaning gives them meaning
but on their own they do not seem to care.
Friends think what you draw are surely versions of yourself
but what you draw has no idea you’re there.
