To Cut the Glut

You bring him everywhere you go.

He isn’t just for show.

He’s in the know.

He tells you what is what.

He exorcises “but” –

replaces it with “and.” To cut

the glut, he leaves the door ajar

so you can just make out the star

wherefrom he comes. It isn’t far.
