When You are Chewing on Your Tail

When you are chewing on your tail,

I try assiduously to prevail

upon you not to push away

the idea that your tail’s not prey to slay

but is a great innate appendage of you

which you probably ought not to eat.

But lately you still choose to chew –

as if it were a treat.
