Existential Sunlight

Shadowed pillows on the couch – dark and bright –
arrest: induce the sudden shocking thought
that this November silver filtered light
might just have been erased from somewhere – caught,

dismissed, discarded – void – a vacant scheme:
regarded – seen – by nobody at all:
as meaningless as reflex – empty dream:
the existential sunlight of the Fall.
