He Tells Me

He tells me, “You should pick up Kant.”
I tell him, “Not right now, I can’t.”
He says, “Okay, let’s run and play.”
I say, “Yes, let’s do that today.”

Less Man

Senses anxiously
attached
to consciousness

can make you feel
less man
than radar scan.

She’d Been Very Young

Reposing as the day
was closing caused her
almost to remember

something from the wildwood
of her childhood: a sound,
a note, a word. What was it?

Had it been said or sung?
Perhaps it was a bird.
She’d been very young.

Transcendental Game

Drifting through a schism
to no rhythm

they could name
appeared
to have become

this moment’s
transcendental game.

Flower Ghosts

Phantasms sneaking
out of blooms in gardens
often guiltily seek pardons

that the Universe
will always grant:
to slip away from

the embodied plant –
become the ghosts
of all the stems and roots

that were their hosts –
is not, in fact, a sin:
spirits of the vegatively

actual remain contractually
in another indivisibly,
invisibly embracing power –

the Universe becomes
what it has always been:
their only flower.

Its Infinite Array of More

No matter what
our acrobatic act or get-up
when we do it, being here
will not let up:

we cannot slice it
with the keenest quantum blade –
or shoo it into any other dim
dimension’s shade –

or anything we ever
could ignore:
nothing can distract us from
its infinite array of more;

disturbance is
its form,
and is
the norm,

and we are
stuck with it.
But my, what strangeness can obtain
sometimes to elevate our luck with it!

Bonfire

Light a bonfire
in your mind.
See what that
might help
you find.
