Our Intimacies

Our intimacies always breed
voluptuously fresh attempts

at thought. And they succeed:
look what they’ve brought

and caught! We never think
a thing in close affectionate

proximity – where we can taste
and smell each other till

we’re full – that doesn’t  pull
and subdivide – proceed

between us into two or eight
or seven hundred twenty-six

new true exactitudes.
It’s marvelous what this can fix.
