If New York Has Immensity

If New York
has immensity,
to me it’s more
in its intensity
than in its
storied geographic

sprawl. It’s all
one habitable
creature in
my mind –
whose fine
reticulated spine

I travel up
and down as if
I were a flood
of neurons,
and the spine
were mine.
