Oh, capture it! --

Oh, capture it! – let this darkening
and rolling pregnancy persist just long
enough to have it kiss, assist your feeling mind –
enough to translate into
saying, drawing, singing something like

the thing itself: early June
delivers its peculiar taste and hue
to you: how many subtle grays and blues
are in this season’s days? –
we think too much of sun:

the rays that keep us living now
are buffered by so many promises of cloud –
suggested in these deep far-ranging shades
of dusky opal – haunted and translucent –
strange – riffling leaves of trees

with hints of an approaching storm:
the random shards
of urban sounds crack, shudder: softer now –
as if a sentience in the city’s blooming
grounds awaited something

wonderfully or terribly torrential that the air
might soon propound –
unless its humid lassitude, round languor lack
the edge to make it more than sigh.
Oh, for the capacities of sky!
